Chile to Bolivia

Mountainbike Adventure across the Andes

Join us for a unique opportunity to cycle from the city of Arica in Chile to the capital city of La Paz, Bolivia. This will be an extraordinary adventure retracing the steps of 16th century trade routes.

Beginning from the shores of the Pacific Ocean we will ascend one of the world’s highest roads to cross the arid Atacama Desert (the worlds driest place) and continue to climb past the international border of Chile into Bolivia.

This journey will cross the mighty Andes mountain chain, riding along the shoulders of sky-scraping volcanoes such as Sajama, Pomerape and Parinacota with altitudes over 6500m.a.s.l.m. To reach the city of La Paz we will ride along the Bolivian highland plateau, "Altiplano", home to millenarian cultures, such as the Aymaras and the Chipayas, who still live according to ancient traditions. The Altiplano eventually descends into the valley of La Paz and the city of the same name, the world’s highest capital at 3640m.a.s.l. From La Paz we will ride around Lake Titikaka (the mythical birthplace of the Inca people), visiting the famous Pre-Inka ruins of Tiawanaku. We then offer an opportunity to continue the cycle adventure by dropping to the Amazonian jungle, riding over a 5000m pass and taking the breath-taking precipitous descent to the rainforests of the "Yungas" at an altitude of 800m.a.s.l...
