Full Tour Itinerary
Day One - Christchurch to Kaikoura
An early start from the Christchurch Railway station begins a memorable journey via the rugged wild Pacific Coastline to Kaikoura. Your hosts will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. This afternoon you are at your own leisure. Local tour operators offer the chance to watch whales, dolphins, sea-birds and many other species of marine life on a daily basis; by boat, flight and by land. With wetsuits provided, visitors can even join dolphins and seals in their ocean environment. We can help make any pre-bookings required if requested. Kaikoura boasts a great selection of restaurants, also offering you local seafood.
Day Two - Kaikoura to Blenheim
After breakfast, you will continue your train journey to Blenheim. Blenheim is in the heart of New Zealand’s Marlborough district and is a busy country town full of interesting shops and cafes. You will be met at the train station and transferred to Hotel d’Urville, which is a fine & elegant boutique hotel situated within the historic Public Trust Building. Your bike fitting will occur and you will be provided with a wine tour map for the next few days. The afternoon is at your own leisure. For an excellent evening meal in a delightful setting, try the d’Urville Wine Bar and Brasserie.
Day Three - Hotel d’Urville to French Fields
Your destination today is French Fields Bed and Breakfast - luxury accommodation which rests in fields of lavender and olives amongst Marlborough's renowned vineyards and wineries. Suggested itinerary today is to bike North out of Blenheim to Makana Confections (the Macadamia Butter Toffee Crunch is to die for!) and then head out for some wine tasting at Saint Clair, Hunter's, Allan Scott and Cloudy Bay among many others on the North West side of Blenheim. Many of the wineries have wonderful restaurants on site for lunch options today. Arrive at French Fields in the afternoon for a beautiful relaxing evening among the vines.
Day Four - French Fields to The Peppertree Luxury B&B
Prepare yourself for a day of quality wine tasting. For those keen on some longer riding today, a great first stop would be out at Spy Valley wines, and then you could wind your way back through Highfield winery, Brancott Estate (great restaurant with beautiful views for a nice lunch option), Villa Maria and Wither Hills. Your last evening can be spent relaxing in one of Peppertree's beautiful garden spots. Savour local produce from The Peppertree's own organic orchard and from the famous Marlborough area. A platter for two can be provided via prior arrangement (for an additional cost), to enjoy in the vineyard or on the verandah.
Day Five - Departure Day, Blenheim
Enjoy a country-style breakfast in the elegant dining room and stroll around the lovely garden before your tour ends. A shuttle will collect you mid-morning and transfer you to the train station or airport, depending on your travel arrangements. You'll leave with wonderful memories of Marlborough, and perhaps a few bottles of Marlborough wines.
